Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery hold WW1 exhibition

Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery, as part of their programme to help commemorate the centenary of World War I, are hosting an exhibition of photographs and paintings entitled “Beneath the Waves”.

It is a collaboration between Paul Webster exhibiting black and white photographs of shipwrecks that were sunk during or participated in World War I, and Stockport artist Henry Quick who has produced a number of mixed media work inspired by the photographs.

The photographs from around the UK and Ireland, include a selection of images of warships and non-combatant ships from the allied and German navies, and show how they have lasted underwater for in some cases more than 100 years.
