Terms and conditions

Last updated: 16 October 2026.

These terms explain how you may use Cheshire Today, share our content and send material to the editorial team. They apply to www.cheshire-today.co.uk. Please read them before using the site or offering material for publication. Contact us if anything is unclear.

1. Who publishes Cheshire Today?

Cheshire Today is owned and operated by Sussex SEO Ltd, a limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 08744099.

Registered office: C/O Brennan Herriott & Co, 1 Blatchington Road, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 3YP.
Business correspondence: Office F, Paxton Business Center, Portland Road, Hove, BN3 5SG.
Email: [email protected].
VAT number: GB176438283.

In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Sussex SEO Ltd in its role as publisher of Cheshire Today.

2. What these terms cover

The site provides local news, event information and guides for Cheshire residents and visitors. It is free to read and does not require a reader account.

These are website-use terms. Advertising bookings, paid commissions and any other commercial services require a separate agreement covering the work, price and relevant conditions. Sending an enquiry does not itself place an order or create a paid commission. Any separate agreement takes priority for the matters it covers. Nothing here removes rights that the law gives you.

3. Reading, sharing and reusing content

You may read our pages, share links to them, and save or print a copy for your own personal reference. Keep the author, copyright and image-credit information with any permitted copy.

Articles, photographs and other material belong to us or to the people and organisations that have licensed them to us. Linking to an article does not give permission to copy the full article or its photographs onto another website, publication or social account.

For republication, syndication or other reuse beyond the permissions above, contact us first unless the use is permitted by law or by a licence attached to that material. Copyright exceptions, including applicable fair dealing for quotation, criticism or review, are unaffected. Any required acknowledgement must be provided.

Some images have their own licences, such as Creative Commons. Follow the specific licence and credit shown with the image. We cannot grant additional rights to someone else’s work.

4. Sending stories, photographs and other material

See our contributor guidance before pitching. Tell us who created the material, where its facts and quotations come from, and whether it has been published or offered elsewhere. Disclose relevant commercial interests, payments, gifts or free tickets.

Only offer material you own or are authorised to provide for the proposed use. Identify any restrictions, required credits and permissions. A link to an image found online is not evidence that we can publish it.

When you expressly offer material for publication and we accept it, you give us permission to edit it reasonably for accuracy, clarity and length, publish it on Cheshire Today and retain the published item in our archive, subject to any restrictions agreed with you. This does not transfer your copyright or require a blanket waiver of your moral rights. Wider reuse, syndication, exclusivity and any fee should be agreed separately. A private enquiry or confidential tip is not treated as a submission for publication.

We decide whether and when to publish, and may decline material or omit promotional links. We will not knowingly change the meaning of a quotation or contribution through editing. If you want a published contribution corrected or removed, contact us with the URL and your reasons. We will consider the request, any agreed rights and relevant editorial and legal obligations.

5. Accuracy, updates and corrections

We aim to publish accurate, useful information and correct material errors brought to our attention. Articles reflect the information available when they were written or last updated. Older articles remain part of the archive and may describe circumstances that have since changed.

Check current opening times, prices, event dates, access arrangements and availability with the organiser or provider before travelling or booking. General financial, legal, employment or health information is not advice tailored to your circumstances.

For a correction, complaint or concern about privacy or copyright, use our contact page or email us. Include the article URL, the issue and any supporting evidence. Explain what outcome you are seeking. We may contact you for clarification.

6. External links, advertising and bookings

Links help readers check sources or find further information. An external link is not, by itself, an endorsement or a guarantee of another organisation’s services. Those organisations operate their own websites and set their own terms and privacy policies.

If you buy a ticket, book a venue or purchase a product through an external website, your booking or purchase is with the identified supplier. Check that supplier’s conditions, including cancellations and refunds, before paying. This does not exclude any responsibility we have for our own statements or conduct.

Advertising and paid promotional content should be clearly identified. Commercial enquiries are handled through our advertising page. Payment does not buy favourable independent editorial coverage.

7. Responsible use and access

Do not use the website to break the law, infringe someone’s rights, harass people, send spam, introduce malicious software or attempt unauthorised access. Do not impersonate another person or deliberately disrupt the site. Automated collection must not bypass access controls, overload the service or infringe copyright or data-protection rights.

Public account registration is disabled. Anyone given editorial access must keep login details secure and report suspected misuse. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address a security risk, unlawful activity or a serious breach of these terms. Where practical and appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a contact route for review.

Maintenance and technical faults may interrupt access. We cannot promise uninterrupted availability, but this does not remove any rights you have under a separate agreement or the law.

8. Privacy and cookies

Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information, cookies and third-party features are handled and how to exercise your data-protection rights. Agreeing to website terms or browsing the site is not, by itself, consent to non-essential cookies.

9. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill, or by our breach of these terms, where that loss or damage was reasonably foreseeable. We are not responsible for loss we did not cause or which was not reasonably foreseeable.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your statutory rights remain unaffected. The fact that the site is free to read does not remove those protections.

10. Changes and disputes

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the website, our services or legal requirements. The date at the top identifies the current version. Changes apply to future use and do not retrospectively alter an existing commission, booking, licence or other separate agreement. Where the law or an agreement requires notice or consent, we will provide or obtain it.

English and Welsh law applies to these website terms. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Consumers retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in their home jurisdiction that applicable law provides.

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply so far as they can operate fairly and lawfully. Please contact us first if a problem arises so we have an opportunity to resolve it. Doing so does not restrict your right to seek advice or take legal action.

Earlier versions of this page used a SEQ Legal template.
