Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is considering a swoop into the transfer market to solve a defensive crisis that has come to a head with the news that Vincent Kompany will be out for at least four weeks.
He is torn between adding another player to the squad or utilising Micah Richards as a centre back -a position in which the defender has excelled before.
However, there are lingering doubts over Richards’ fitness, while another key defender Matija Nastasić is still only 90 per cent fit.
If he does go into the market, the favoured target could be Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis.
Demichelis, who joined Atletico from Malaga back in July, is keen to link with his former boss and would be available for around £4 million.
