In celebration of International Kissing Day this Sunday (6 July), here are two tips from Lush for irresistible lips, with its cruelty free colours.

STEP 1

The first step is to prep your lips with a buff and polish. Do this at the start of your make-up routine to ensure your lipstick or lip balm glides on and stays put.

Lush colour expert, Charlotte Howe, said: “To keep lips looking their best, gently exfoliate with a Lush Lip Scrub before applying the colour. This will get rid of any dry skin and smooth out fine lines around the mouth, which in turn will help to prevent your lipstick bleeding”.

Lush’s flavoured Lip Scrubs (£5.50 for 25g) are available in three delicious flavours, Popcorn, Bubblegum and Mint Julips, just apply with a clean finger and let the exfoliating caster sugar and softening jojoba oil scrub away dead skin and infuse moisture to rejuvenate your smile.

STEP 2

Once the Lip Scrub has worked its magic, the final step is to pick a lip balm or a lipstick. For the perfect hint of colour, Lush created It Started with a Kiss lip tint (£5.95), a nourishing balm which gives lips a kissable red hue. The moisture-infusing tint is a subtle apple-red shade but can be built up into a deeper shade of matte red with a hint of pink. For a more natural look try Honey Trap lip balm (£5.75), a rich lip balm that gives you triple the benefit as it’s soothing, moisturising and protecting.

For a more long-lasting effect, look no further than the Emotional Brilliance range of liquid lipsticks. Lush’s global best-seller, Perspective liquid lips (£14.50) is a rosy nude colour which will help you achieve a look that is natural and subtle. For a confidence boosting colour, try Decisive liquid lips (£14.50), a deep cherry red to make you feel like a pin-up. The Liquid Lips collection keeps lips hydrated and coloured all day long thanks to their base of rose wax, candelilla wax and jojoba oil.

Charlotte Howe offers the following tips on the perfect way to apply the Liquid Lips collection:

•         Follow the outline of your lip with the tip of the sponge, then fill in.

•         You can also use your lip colour as a cream blusher.

•         For a more subtle colour, use less or mix with a Lush lip balm.

On International Kissing Day last year, Lush set a new Guinness World Record for the most lipstick prints collected in 12 hours!  A record breaking 38,829 lip prints were collected across 265 locations, in 37 countries.
