Lancashire County Cricket Club have signed a record-breaking ten-year naming rights

deal with airline Emirates.

The airline will sponsor the club’s ground – which will now become Emirates Old Trafford – for the next decade and will also have its name on Lancashire’s Twenty20 shirts.

The deal, which is thought to be worth up to £10m, is the biggest in the history of county cricket.

Lancashire chief executive Daniel Gidney said the deal “sends a message out to the world that we are a serious cricket club, and a serious business venue, and it gives us an amazing launch pad to move forward”.

“I think it will raise eyebrows around cricket. This is more about Lancashire’s ambition and showing we are a world-class cricket club and a world-class venue,” he added.
