A sculpture designed and created by a talented art student from West Cheshire College is now on display at the World Museum Liverpool.

Jessica Holgate, 18, from Little Neston, created the ant sculpture as part of her College art course.

Jessica, who is studying Extended Diploma in Art and Design, at the College, said: “It took me about three weeks to make the ant sculpture from scratch.

I used a mixture of materials to get different textures including tissue paper, teabags, wire and aluminium.

“I loved the project as it really broadened my skills and ideas. It allowed me to be really creative and I even made it move by using electrical switch connectors in the legs and LED lights to illuminate it.

“I was so shocked to hear that my sculpture will be in the World Museum. I’m really happy and can’t wait to go and see it being on display. I’m especially looking forward to getting feedback on the structure from people visiting the museum.”
