A Wirral library has played host to an event featuring one of the most popular up and coming teen authors in Britain.

Cathy Cassidy entertained local school children at Bromborough Library and Civic Hall, reading from and signing copies of her new book ‘Chocolate Box Girls: Coco Caramel’.

Pupils from Oldershaw, St Mary’s Catholic College, Wirral Girls Grammar School and Upton Hall School attended the special event, at which Cathy Cassidy entertained them with stories from her career as a journalist at Jackie and Shout magazines and helped them with inspiration for their own story ideas.

Coun Chris Meaden, Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services said:

“Cathy Cassidy is hugely popular with teenagers, and particularly with teenage girls. Our regular author events give local children and teenagers a chance to question successful writers face-to-face, which can be invaluable for developing their own confidence as writers.”

Cathy Cassidy was born in Coventry. She attended art college in Liverpool before moving to Scotland. She has written over 20 books for children and young adults.
