Liverpool have made an £8 million bid for Schalke wunderkid Max Meyer, according to German media.
Under the terms of the reported deal Schalke will receive bonus payments if the 18-year-old helps the team win trophies and 25 per cent of any sell-on fee.

Meyer has already turned down an offer from Chelsea and has had talks with Manchester United. However, Liverpool are thought to be more willing to promise first team football.

The role of Meyer will be to understudy Adam Lallana who has been earmarked as one of Brendan Rodger’s key targets. However, that deal is currently bog down in disagreements over the level of fee.
