Entries for the 2013 Northern Matchplay Golf Championship are now officially open.

The competition, now in its fourth year, will follow a similar scenario to previous seasons where entrants must win a maximum of six local qualifying rounds to reach their regional final.

The first round will once again be on a ‘home & away’ basis over 36 holes to ensure everyone gets to play a match away from home.

In 2013 there will an additional region which incorporates the Midlands counties.

The three other regions remain the same. Yorkshire entrants will be trying to reach Alwoodley, while players in the North West will aim to reach a regional final at Royal Birkdale. North East & Cumbria players will return to Silloth on Solway for the third time.

The winners (individual and pair) at each regional final will progress to a two-day, 36 hole grand final at Royal Lytham & St Annes, host of the 2012 Open Championship, with accommodation in the famous Dormy House.
