Ahead of the official opening on February 13th, Italian restaurant Pesto has lifted the curtain to give a glimpse of the interior of its new East Cheshire home at The Davenport Arms in Marton.
The former tavern has been transformed by the privately-owned Italian restaurant group with an investment of £600,000.
The first look reveals a scheme that pays homage to the traditional pub, which dates back to the 18th Century.
It embraces the building’s former life, incorporating an outdoor beer garden and central bar, offering a broad range of cask ales. The 120 cover dining space also features open fires, low beams and bright, spacious areas, giving the restaurant a laid back feel.
The design of the project has been led by Neil Gatt, co-owner of Pesto Restaurants. commenting on the development, he said: “It has been a pleasure to work on the transformation of this traditional pub. The building is a key local landmark and we want Pesto at The Davenport Arms to continue to be a valued part of the community.
“This has been achieved through the combination of an inviting exterior and a relaxed, contemporary interior, creating a welcoming dining experience for all.”
The new venture has seen a local recruitment drive with around 40 vacancies in kitchen, front and back of house positions.
