Press reports out of Paris and London suggest that Paris Saint-Germain are preparing an £80 million bid for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
The move comes after the player apparently hinted at his unhappiness a being dropped to the bench for the last two games.
Aguero, 28, is City’s leading scorer this season in all competitions but he has lost his first-team place in Pep Guardiola’s team to teenager Gabriel Jesus.
The 19-year-old Brazil international, a £27 million purchase, has made a major impact since arriving at City in January, with three goals in two appearances including a double in victory over Swansea City on Sunday.
Aguero’s position on the bench and his reported comments has led to speculation that he could be on his way out of the Etihad at the end of the season.
The Times reports Paris Saint-Germain will lead the chase for Aguero’s signature, with Chelsea also in the frame.
The French giant, backed by owner Qatar Sports Investments, is said to be preparing an offer of around £80 million for the player.
Sources within City say that the player’s quotes in the aftermath of the Swansea game have been taken out of context and that the club has no intention of selling the player. The belief at the club is that both strikers can play together as a foward pair.
