The award season means one thing – we are about to see floods of glamorous red carpet looks that fuel us with jealousy.
But these Hollywood looks aren’t as hard to copy as you may first think. Online hair and beauty retailer Hairtrade.com has compiled a list of ways you can achieve salon-worthy hair and pristine makeup by doing it yourself.
They recommend using products such as extra-firm hairspray, sea salt spray and volumising mousse, to achieve hair that’s full of body.
They also recommend using makeup products like a radiant foundation and a liquid blush to give a dewy complexion that’s perfect for your evening out.
Joanne Dodds from Hairtrade.com said: “We’ve already seen a whole host of amazing hair and beauty looks from the awards shows, and we still have so many more to come.
“Hollywood glamour is a timeless style and it can actually be re-created at home quite easily.
“By following our tips and using the products that we recommend, you can have award winning hair and makeup that looks fit for the Hollywood superstars.”
Here are the site’s top tips on how to get an award-winning hair and beauty look:
Celebrities at the 2017 Golden Globes were not afraid to rock a bold lip colour. Opt for a warm red wine shade like Kerry Washington or a brightening red like Tracee Ellis Ross. Perfect for a casual day look or glammed up for a night on the town.

Slick up do
Celebs are keeping it slick this year, with the scraped back look doing its rounds on the red carpet. Karrueche Tran and Jessica Chastain have been known to wear this hairstyle during award season this year.
To get the look, simply spritz your hair with a texture spray, then, blow-dry your hair at the roots to add volume. Use straighteners to smooth your hair down, before brushing it back into a slick ponytail. Knot and secure with bobby pins if you’re going for a bun, or leave down if you only desire a ponytail. Then, finish with a firm hairspray.

A lot of celebs this year are keeping it natural, and rocking easily re-creatable tousled waves. If you have naturally curly hair, this look is fairly easy to achieve. Simply spritz a bit of salt spray or texturizing lotion and scrunch the hair upwards.
If you have naturally straight hair, start with damp, towel-dried hair and spray a moisturising base product. Then, take a salt spray or texture lotion to the mid-section and scrunch it. To hold, diffuse the hair using your hairdryer so the roots are lifted, keeping it in place for much longer.

Dewy complexions were popular on the red carpet this year. Mandy Moore had a beautiful makeup look at the Golden Globes.
To create a dewy look, remember to prime the skin using a primer that contains SPF, as it evens skin tone and blurs fine lines and imperfections. Then, use a foundation with a good coverage to give your skin a dewy finish, before adding sheen with a subtle highlighter.

Statement eye shadow
If you’re going for a nude lip, don’t be afraid to rock a bold eye shadow. Take inspiration from Maisie Williams and go for a statement eye look.

Side buns are a great hairstyle for evening. Golden Globe winner Emma Stone rocked this style when she went to collect her award for Best Actress.
To get a gorgeous side bun, simply build texture and volume with a hair mousse or gel, before creating a deep parting and moving your hair to one side. Then gather your hair and tie in a ponytail, and bring a few wisps down from the side of your face (if you desire a more laid back look).
Then twist the bun up and secure with bobby pins. If you want a braided side bun, simply braid it loosely, and then twirl around to make a bun. To finish, secure with hairspray.

If you have natural curls, embrace them when styling your hair for the evening like Bernadette Peters has for award season. Use a contour cream to make your curls manageable and eliminate frizz, then style as required.

Full of volume
Make a statement with your evening look and opt for bouncy and beautiful hair. This can be worn short – Kristen Bell did it with a bob at the Golden Globes – or long – Naomie Harris showed a long curly blow dry still looked beautiful paired with evening wear.
To get hair that’s full of volume, simply separate your hair into sections after washing. Then, use a heat protector and oil mist before blow-drying from the top of the roots to the scalp. Leave tolerably damp before blasting with cold hair to lock-in shine.
Then, lightly curl the ends of the hair (you can use straighteners or a curling tong), and seal in place with hairspray.
